THE DETAILS
At 80cm tall, Classic Max has some serious presence — but it’s the story behind this enormous Hermann bear that makes him particularly interesting.
Made in Germany by Hermann-Coburg, Classic Max was created in memory of Max Hermann, founder of the Hermann-Coburg company. Hermann’s original 2005 catalogue records the model as a worldwide limited edition of just 50 bears. This example is individually numbered 15/50.
He’s made from mohair plush and traditionally filled with excelsior, standing approximately 80cm / 31½ inches tall. The bear is fully jointed and fitted with a growler, giving him the traditional construction and character expected of Hermann’s collector bears.
The original catalogue identifies Classic Max under reference 14482-1 and specifically records the mohair construction, excelsior filling, growler and 50-piece worldwide edition.
This example retains his original numbered certificate/tag showing No. 15, together with his Hermann medallion and green ribbon.
A particularly impressive Hermann collector piece — both because of his scale and because so few Classic Max bears were produced.
