Vintage 2000 Ralph Lauren Polo Teddy Bear 40cm with Fair Isle Knit Jumper & Tags

A little piece of Ralph Lauren from the turn of the millennium.

Dating to 2000, this substantial Ralph Lauren teddy bear stands approximately 40cm tall and wears a wonderfully detailed red, blue and cream Fair Isle-style knitted jumper.

It’s the clothing that gives this one its character. Ralph Lauren’s long association with the Polo Bear makes the combination of teddy bear and miniature preppy knitwear instantly at home in the brand’s world, while the original Ralph Lauren 2000 swing tags remain attached.

The bear has a rich brown plush finish, dark eyes and a black nose, with the oversized proportions and traditional seated teddy-bear appearance visible in the photographs.

Examples of Ralph Lauren bears from 2000 do appear on the secondary market, including other approximately 40cm bears, but surviving examples vary considerably in colour, clothing and condition. 

This one stands out for its beautifully preserved presentation, distinctive patterned knit and attached original tags.
